L’Antica Trattoria | Best Tasting Menu in Sorrento
Just off the main square, L’Antica Trattoria has been serving up some of the finest regional cuisine in Sorrento for decades. The cooks here are very talented. Innovative, deliciously crafted dishes with thoughtfully sourced and market fresh ingredients appear on their menu, which changes with the seasons. Their price fixed tasting menu’s are the best in Sorrento, and are not to be missed.
Beautifully adorned with hand-painted ceramics, objects of antiquity, and colorful frescos typical of the Neapolitan culture and Sorrento Peninsula, L’Antica Trattoria offers its patrons an enchanting ambiance to dine and luxuriate in the charm and elegance of times past, old-world Sorrento at its finest.
Whether dining in the garden terrace room, with the pretty vine-covered pergola, flowers, tropical greenery, and natural light, or one of the formal dining rooms, a truly top-notch dining experience awaits. The owner, Aldo D’Oria, who acquired the restaurant from his uncle back in 1986, is well-known for his gracious hospitality, respect for local tradition, and devotion to excellence. He’s a pro, a real charmer that invites you to discover the pleasures of the Foods of the Sorrento Coast, with a commitment to please at the table.
The wine cellar preserves the more than 30,000 bottle collection that make up their impressive wine list, which includes a stellar selection of the best wines of Italy and around the world, and winners of the most prestigious wine awards. Noble white, red, and rosé wines, all carefully-selected by Aldo and his sommelier Antonio to compliment the food on their menu with the perfect wine paring, and offer their patrons the best possible dining experience.
On the Menu à la Carte, there are plenty of tempting dishes to choose from —between the featured newly-created dishes the chef’s dreamt up to celebrate the given season and the staple house specialties. Try one of the delicate antipasti (starters), like the crispy red prawns served with a sardine sauce, dried marinated tomatoes, caper berries, black olives, and creamy burrata, or the fresh octopus with creamy-rosemary potatoes, and their signature pasta dish, tagliolini ‘Antica Trattoria,’ which pares finely-cut, fresh egg pasta with a luscious, creamy, zest-touched sauce made with Sorrento’s glorious lemons. All simply divine…
Or, better yet, go with one of their wonderful ‘tasting menu’s’ and discover why they are considered Sorrento’s best. You can choose four-courses from the Menu à la Carte or the vegetarian/vegan/gluten free menu for € 60,00 per person (lunchtime, three-courses for € 19.50). Or else, you can order one of the chef’s multi-course tasting menus, and just sit back and enjoy the meal flow flawlessly, as you taste one tantalizing plate at a time. The chef’s ‘symphony’ four-course menu for € 49,00 per person, and the ‘concerto’ nine-course menu for € 90,00 per person.
Our recent tasting was truly a ‘concerto’ of deliciousness, a top-notch dining experience we will remember fondly — starting with a marinated fish carpaccio, that tasted like it just came from the sea, and finishing with a couple of fine cheeses, offering a light change of palate before delving into our dessert — the famed Neapolitan Pastiera (semifreddo style) as well as several other sweet bites to linger over…
