Campania Cultural and Culinary Tours – Overview
Situated on Italy’s south-western edge, the Campania region has a rich, storied history —and cultural and culinary heritage. Home to 10 of Italy’s 58 Unesco sites, including Pompeii, Herculaneum, and the Historic Centre of Naples, which brims with artistic and historical treasures of significance at every turn. Known by the ancient Romans as ‘Campania Felix’ (Happy or Fertile Campania), the natural beauty of the territory is extraordinary—from the breathtaking landscape that surrounds the colorful, picturesque villages of the Amalfi Coast to the lemon tree-lined streets and magnificent Faraglioni rocks that sit proudly in the deep blue sea around glitzy Capri —to the rolling hills, magical forested areas of Avellino, Benevento, and Salerno, where truffles are hunted and ancient medieval villages enchant. And thanks to the almighty Mount Vesuvius, the territory is covered with mineral rich, volcanic soil, which combined with the temperate Mediterranean climate, produces the ideal conditions for the cultivation of the plentitude of delicious fruits and vegetables, nuts and beans, etc. that flourish all over the countryside—including some of Italy’s premier grape varieties that were first grown in the vineyards of ancient Pompeii and made into the noble wines drank by the Roman aristocracy of the time and traded all over the world. Plus, naturally, the famed San Marzano tomatoes that are considered to be the best sauce tomatoes in the world. Together with the exemplary products of the livestock that graze in the fertile fields, the spectacular myriad of fish and seafood, fished from the Gulf of Naples, and the centuries-old cooking methods and traditions, the Campania region is a must-explore for travellers seeking a rich, thrilling taste of history, food, and wine in one of the most popular destinations on the Italian Peninsula. And truly one of the most enchanting as well—with the breathtaking nature and city scapes, artistic and historical treasures, rich, stories of the past, and so much more…
Along with our scheduled tours, we craft custom small-group tours/experiences, from an insider’s perspective, for travellers searching for a more intimate, immersive experience focused on discovering the authentic cultural and culinary heritage of Naples and the Campania region.

A Taste of Campania Food and Culture Tour
Come join us on a 9-day long celebration of the food, wine, and culture of the incredible edible Campania region. During our time together you will be immersed in local Italian living as we explore the picturesque villages and must-see attractions of the Sorrento and Amalfi Coast, and Naples too—from an insider’s perspective. We will visit farms and food producers, and meet the local artisans— all the while exploring the local food ways from the field to the table of this special corner of Italy’s south. Our community of neighbors and friends will become yours as you learn about and taste the local specialty food products; buffalo milk mozzarella, cow’s milk cheeses of all sorts, cured meats, organic olive oils, marmalades, and honey, and, of course, ‘limoncello,’ Sorrento’s famed lemon liquor. We will explore the lively Neapolitan street food culture and food markets, making stops along the way so you can taste some of the popular classics, like the savory arancini and crocché, and the famous sweet, la sfogliatella. We will tour a well-known winery to sip and savor some of the Campania region’s premier wines and enjoy lunches and dinners at charming trattorias and restaurants —as well as casual al fresco dining; picnics and barbecues, in the pretty green fields of the countryside and by the sea. We’ll get wrist deep in pasta dough as we learn about the local cooking methods and traditions, and craft memorable meals together that celebrate the given season, the freshness of the fields at the moment, and artisanal food—from ravioli alla Caprese (homemade cheese filled ravioli in fresh tomato sauce from the island of Capri) —to Parmigiana di melanzane (eggplant Parmigiana) —to vera pizza Napoletana (authentic Neapolitan wood-fired pizza).
We will stay in two accommodations —a charming 4-star boutique hotel in the heart of Sorrento and a beautifully restored farmhouse set on the hills of Sorrento in an oasis of tranquility, with spectacular vistas of the countryside to the Tyrrhenian sea. Elegantly furnished rooms with private bathrooms and air conditioning.
